And he is determined to know as much as possible about everything he does. He is constantly taking courses, staying abreast of the latest in dentistry. You’ll be able to tell he knows what he is talking about.

You will also likely notice the depth of his caring. If you haven’t figured that out as you start treatment, you will know it by the time you are done, because after every significant appointment, you will get a phone call from him asking how you are doing. Cindy, his office manager, reveals that patients are continually surprised to get that phone call. “Every day,” she says, “every day, he never forgets to follow up.” And he is focused on making patients comfortable. “You’re not the first patient to be anxious about dental care,” he says, trying to put patients at ease. “I’ve worked on patients like you before.” If you need to be sedated, he’ll do that. If you just need a gentle hand, he’ll do that. Whatever it takes to make you comfortable.

The third thing that comes through is his honesty. “He takes them into the consultation room,” Cindy explains, “and they just know he’s being honest with them.” He presents your options, and then the decision is yours. And if what you want ends up not being the ideal treatment, he will respect your choice and not try to pressure you into something more expensive.

What motivates Dr. Thein? Cindy says he wants a long-term and trusting relationship with every patient. And how do patients feel after their first encounter with the office? They regret that it took so long to find him.
